Tips on Cleaning Sterling Silver Naturally
- Make a paste with baking soda and water.
- Add a few drops of peppermint or spearmint essential oil.
- Mix together and rub silver with the paste.
- Make sue you wash your hands well when finished.
- Squeeze toothpaste on a cloth or sponge and gently rub on silver.
- You can also use your finger to scrub areas that are more tarnished.
- Line the bottom of a pan with aluminum foil with the shiny side up. Heavy-duty foil works best. If your aluminum foil is thin, place a double layer in the pan.
- Place the tarnished silver on the foil.
- Add 1/2 cup of salt to a pitcher of hot water and stir to dissolve the salt.
- Add 1 1/2 cups of baking soda and let dissolve completely.
- Pour the salt and baking soda over the silver and let set until water cools and the aluminum foil turns dark.
